The Vetasi Group, a leading international enterprise asset and facilities management consultancy, has received one of South Africa's most prestigious facilities management awards: Technology Implementation of the Year 2022.
The South African Facility Management Association (SAFMA) Awards are held annually to recognise the accomplishments of people and businesses in the Facilities Management Industry. On April 20th, Vetasi was awarded the Technology Implementation of the Year 2022. The award was granted in honour of the North-West University's (NWU) successful completion of the world-class Planon Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) implementation.
A key goal of the NWU's Facilities Strategic Optimisation Project (FSOP) was to create and improve the governance, delivery model, processes, and procedures related to the Facilities functional area to align with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) 17 Elements of the Macro Infrastructure Framework (MIF) to support their business and digital strategies.
"The meticulous planning and preparation carried out by the NWU project team, on advice from the Vetasi experts, before the deployment, enabled a planned, efficient, and effective rollout, has been a crucial component in the success of the implementation project. "Our team is made up of top-tier industrial engineers and IT specialists, with a proven record of accomplishment in implementing IWMS systems on a global scale," said Pieter Joubert, Vetasi's Global Executive for Facilities and Real Estate Management.
"Vetasi was chosen to provide the Planon IWMS as a result of the standard, market-leading functionality within the solution and our extensive competence in Facilities & Asset Management," Joubert says.
In addition to reactive maintenance across three campuses, the project included scheduled maintenance, condition inspections, lease management, and reservation management.
"A significant achievement was the migration of class/exam schedules from a legacy system to Planon," said Akshay Maharajh, Global Facilities Solution Manager. "This was a significant accomplishment because we were able to book roughly 50 000 timeslots across different campuses with more than 1300 buildings."
To this, Maharajh adds, "This data comprised 1325 buildings, 4033 spaces, 1344 reservable venues, 27052 employees and contractors, 14115 student allotted residential beds, 41609 maintenance orders, and 48407 reservations to just give an overview of the scope of this project."
A successful implementation based on a synergetic relationship between Vetasi and the NWU, which has upped the bar in terms of what constitutes a good IWMS!
