Vetasi has been selected by PKP Energetyka S.A, the cross-country electricity supplier to the Polish railway network, and other tens of thousands business customers, to implement IBM Maximo for Enterprise Asset Management.
PKP Energetyka S.A. provides electricity to PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A, the Polish railway infrastructure administrator. Due to the sheer volume of its business and increasing technical development on a global scale, PKP Energetyka S.A. needed to modernize its IT infrastructure.
The biggest challenge was to modernize the systems responsible for managing network assets. Previously, these assets were managed by GIS system, bespoke in-house applications and other contracted management systems. The appointment of Vetasi and the shift towards IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution is an important evolution in managing network assets for the company.
PKP Energetyka’s S.A. assets are distributed across the entire country; and in this respect the benefits of IBM Maximo are clearest. The EAM system will support maintenance as well as planning and managing the construction and repair works of the company’s entire infrastructure, including distribution and traction networks, as well as real estate. The system will also be used within the following departments:
Distribution – providing electricity, including distribution network administration, management of new connections,
Maintenance – providing electricity network maintenance services and executing new connections contracts;
Services – providing electricity and construction services.
Once the system is fully implemented, it will be used by electricity distribution, maintenance and electro-energetic services departments on a daily basis. All in all, IBM Maximo will support the work of over 800 people for whom the new system will save time when managing clients’ orders and streamline operational effectiveness as a result of working on one integrated application. The new EAM system paves the way for the digitalization and categorization of technical documentation related to assets as well as optimize and standardize energy infrastructure management processes, which will lead to increased cost efficiencies.
In future, PKP Energetyka S.A. plans to implement cognitive IoT solutions to enhance service delivery and ensure the increased reliability of its electricity supply.
